Judith Dansker (oboe, oboe d'amore and english horn) is a solo and chamber music performer with performances at such places as the Frick Museum, Weill Recital Hall- Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and the Library of Congress among many others. She currently is on the faculties of Simons Rock of Bard College, the Hotchkiss School and the Harlem School of the Arts and she also maintains a large private teaching studio. She is a former faculty member at the University of South Carolina where she was an Assistant Professor of Music and taught Oboe, Recorder, Music Appreciation and Early Music Courses. She received the Bachelor & Master of Music Degrees from the Juilliard School of Music where she studied with Robert Bloom & Sara Lambert. In addition, she studied oboe with Thomas Fay, William Criss, and Ronald Roseman. Ms. Dansker studied chamber music with Samuel Baron, Dale Clevenger, Ray Still, Mitchell Lurie, Thomas Nyfenger, Leonard Sharrow, and Robert Bloom. She also studied Early Music and Recorder with Lanoue Davenport , Harpsichordist Albert Fuller and the Waverly Consort- Symposium on Early Music- New York University. Ms. Dansker is a founding member of the Galliard Woodwind Quintet with performances nationwide including: debut recital Carnegie Recital Hall, and the Library of Congress, which was consequently taped & broadcast nationwide on APR, Radio France, and Radio Netherlands. She has been an Faculty/ Artist member of the Kent/Silver Bay Music Festival, Director of the Ariel Chamber Series and the New York Baroque Consort, and a member of the ensemble Trio Sonata ( flute, oboe & guitar).She is a member of the newly formed group, The Hevreh Ensemble which features improvisation & contemporary American Jewish compositions. Their new CD, " Dance of the Sheydim" was recently released. The group is currently Ensemble in Residence at Hevreh of Southern Berkshire. She has also performed with the New York Baroque Consort, Beethoven Festival, Infusion, New York Kammermusiker, Linda Skernick & Friends, International Chamber Artists, Columbia Festival Orchestra Chamber Players, & she was invited to perform at the Alice Tully Hall 80th Birthday Concert for Robert Bloom. The New York Times has said of Ms. Dansker’s playing: " her lovely solo lines were very skillfully handled." She has also performed with many orchestras including: Berkshire Bach Society, Hartford Symphony, Principal Oboe Connecticut Grand Opera, New Haven Symphony, Principal Oboe Columbia Philharmonic Orchestra, Principal Oboe South Carolina Chamber Orchestra, Principal Oboe Columbia Lyric Opera, Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra, and the New York Shakespeare Festival.
