Bio:

Debra Rand, M.S., AHIP, is the Academic Health Sciences Library Director at the Hofstra University School of Medicine in partnership with North Shore-LIJ Health System.  Ms. Rand will work collaboratively with Hofstra and Health System staff to design and implement library services and digital collections for the School of Medicine. She has served as the Director of the Health Sciences Library at Long Island Jewish Medical Center since 1987.  She was the Principal Investigator on the National Library of Medicine grant supporting creation of a unified electronic library for the Health System.  Prior to joining LIJ, Ms. Rand was the Medical Library Director at Montefiore Medical Center.  She has been active in her professional associations, serving as Chair of the Hospital Libraries Section of the Medical Library Association, as well as on numerous committees of the Association, nationally and regionally.  Ms. Rand has an M.S. from the Columbia University School of Library Science and a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Michigan.
