Bio:

Dr. Lehman's Ph.D., with a major in accounting and a minor specialization in information systems is from the New York University Graduate School of Business Administration. She has a B.A. in accounting from Queens College of The City University of New York.

Dr. Lehman is general editor of Advances in Public Interest Accounting, associate editor of Critical Perspectives on Accounting, and is on the editorial board of Accounting, Auditing and Accountability, Accounting Forum, Gender Work and Organization and Pacific Accounting Review. Her research interests include public policy, regulation, international issues, ethics and gender research.

Professor Lehman’s publications appear in Accounting, Organizations and Society; Accounting, Auditing, and Accountability; Advances in Public Interest Accounting; Critical Perspectives on Accounting and numerous other publications and proceedings. She is the author of Accounting’s Changing Role in Social Conflict, which has been translated into Japanese and Korean, and co-editor of Multinational Culture: Social Impacts of a Global Economy.

As a visiting scholar, Dr. Lehman has lectured in Australia and England and has presented her research at numerous international conferences held in Canada, Cuba, Hungary, New Zealand, Peru, Scotland and the former Soviet Union. Dr. Lehman has been on the board of directors of the Institute for Women's Policy Research and is currently on the board of the Globalshare Foundation. She is recipient of the KPMG Accounting Mentoring Award. She has also served as chair of the Public Interest Section of the American Accounting Association (AAA) and of the Gender Issues in Accounting Section of the AAA, a section which she co-founded, and has been an accounting adviser for the New York State Regents Examination Board.

Prior to teaching at Hofstra, Dr. Lehman worked in private industry, internal auditing, and financial analysis and forecasting.
