Bio:

Dr. Venuti received a B.S. in business management and marketing from Cornell University and an M.Phil. and Ph.D. in accounting from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business. She is a certified public accountant in New York State.

Dr. Venuti is active in the New York State Society of CPAs, serving on numerous committees, including the International Accounting & Auditing Committee, for which she has served as chair.

Dr. Venuti’s research interests include financial reporting and auditing in both the United States and internationally. She is very interested in the convergence of financial reporting and auditing practices worldwice. Dr.Venuti has presented papers at the American Accounting Association’s annual and midyear meetings and has had articles published in the Journal of Accounting Research, the Asia-Pacific Journal of Accounting and Economics, Financial Executive and The CPA Journal . She has served as a reviewer for academic conferences and grant applications, and for several journals, including The Accounting Review, the International Journal for Business and Economics and The CPA Journal. She is currently a member of the Editorial Board for The CPA Journal.

She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Prior to coming to Hofstra University, Dr. Venuti was an assistant professor of accounting at Bernard M. Baruch College of The City University of New York. She has also taught CPA review courses for Becker Conviser and Conviser Duffy. Prior to beginning the doctoral program at Columbia, Professor Venuti received professional experience at Price Waterhouse in New York City.
