Krishnan Pillaipakkamnatt is an associate professor in the computer science department at Hofstra University. He holds an undergraduate degree in computer engineering (1989) from Andhra University, India and a Ph.D. in computer science (1995) from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN. He joined Hofstra as an assistant professor in 1995.
Professor Pillaipakkamnatt’s research interests lie in data mining, machine learning, and computational learning theory. More narrowly, he works algorithms for cluster analysis and prediction in data streams, and the extension of data stream mining algorithms to distributed environments. He is also interested in data mining algorithms that preserve an individual’s privacy.
Professor Pillaipakkmnatt teaches a wide range of graduate and undergraduate courses. He has introduced a number of graduate and undergraduate courses on new and emerging areas of applied computing. He is especially interested in studying the challenges involved in teaching distance learning courses. He is a member of the ACM.
