Bonu Sengupta received her doctoral degree in Economics from North Carolina State University in 2003. Before joining the faculty at Hofstra, she held the position of Visiting Assistant Professor at Grinnell College, Iowa. Currently, she is the economist for a project undertaken by the International Labour Office of the United Nations to study the impact of repatriation of Afghan refugees from Iran. Bonu's primary research interest is in the analysis of the decision-making process of migrant workers, and her academic research and fieldwork deal more specifically with undocumented Mexican migration to the U.S. She also works in the field of Real Options and is interested in its unique applications in modeling migration decisions. Her teaching experience lies in the fields of econometrics, statistics, economic development, labor economics and introductory and intermediate micro and macroeconomics.
