Dr. Gao received a B.S. from the Shanghai Institute of Mechanical Engineering and an M.B.A. and a Ph.D. from Indiana University. He is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma National Honor Society.
Before coming to Hofstra, Dr. Gao taught production/operations management and worked as a computing consultant at Indiana University. He also taught at the Shanghai Institute of Mechanical Engineering in China.
Dr. Gao's research interests include distribution systems design-facility location, design of distributed data networks, multi-echelon inventory systems, and fixed charge network programming. He has had articles published in Management Science, Naval Research Logistics, Decision Sciences, European Journal of Operational Research, Interfaces, Annals of the Society of Logistics Engineers, and Mathematical and Computer Modelling.
Dr. Gao is a member of the Decision Sciences Institute, the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences, and the Production and Operations Management Society.
