Bio:

Professor López received a B.A. in English from Queens College and a J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law. His academic experience includes 12 years as a Professor of Business at SUNY Delhi and more than six years in academic administration, including four years as Dean of Business at Broome Community College immediately prior to joining the Hofstra faculty. While at BCC, he served on the Tioga County Legislature’s Continuing Education Committee, implemented a baccalaureate completion program allowing non-traditional and place-bound students to earn various baccalaureate degrees in business through Excelsior College at BCC, facilitated the expansion of business offerings off campus and taught business law classes to managerial employees on site for a major local business partner in Broome County.

Professor López’s publications include Business Law: an Introduction (Irwin/McGraw-Hill 1993), Legal Environment of Business (Prentice Hall, 1997) and Case and Resource Materials for the Legal Environment of Business (Prentice Hall 1997) along with two software related trade books. A new textbook, Business Law and the Legal Environment of Business, will be available from Textbook Media in the Spring of 2009 in low-cost printed and electronic versions as well as in free, advertising supported online versions. Business Law: an Introduction 2/E will be available in the fall of 2009 from Textbook Media. He is also working on a scholarly book on copyright, patent, and trademark law that will be published by McFarland and Company in the fall of 2010.

Professor López is a member of the New York State Bar, the New York State Bar Association and the Academy of Legal Studies in Business. (ALSB) and the North East Academy of Legal Studies in Business (NEALSB) and a reviewer for journals published by ALSB and NEALSB.
