A graduate of the MFA program at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Patricia Horvath teaches fiction and creative nonfiction. Her most recent project, a memoir, explores issues of disability and self-identity, specifically how one’s sense of self is affected when a physical disability ceases to be visible. On the basis of this work she was awarded fellowships from the New York Foundation for the Arts and the Barbara Deming Memorial Fund. Her work has appeared in literary journals including Shenandoah, Cream City Review, and Puerto del Sol, and she is an editor at The Massachusetts Review. Teaching interests for Prof. Horvath include the short story, "sudden" and experimental fiction, the narrative essay, and memoir. As well, she teaches Female Identity through Art and Literature in the Women's Studies Program at Hofstra.
