Bio:

Dr. Nikbakht received his doctoral degree in finance from George Washington University. He earned an M.B.A. at the Iran Management Center in collaboration with the Harvard Business School and a B.A. at Tehran Business School, Iran. He holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. He is a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) awarded by the Global Association of Risk Professionals, and a certified Professional Risk Manager (PRM) award by the Professional Risk Managers' International Association.

Dr. Nikbakht has done research in international finance and hedge funds, published articles and two books, and presented a number of papers at finance and business conventions. He was voted as the 2004 Executive MBA Teacher of the Year and is a recipient of the Dean's Award for "outstanding teaching and service." Dr. Nikbakht has been an education consultant to the American Institute of Advanced Finance, Schweser (a Washington Post company), Chase Manhattan Bank, Technical Education Consultants, the Option Group, and Goldman Sachs. He is interested in research and consulting in the areas of investment, financial risk management, and international finance. Formerly a Department Chair, Dr. Nikbakht also served as Associate Dean of the Frank Zarb School of Business.

In recognition of his research book titled Foreign Loans and Economic Performance, published by Praeger Special Studies, Dr. Nikbakht received a Stessin Prize for Outstanding Scholarly Publication. He has taught at Jundi Shapur University, Iran, and in the Hofstra/Erasmus joint international summer program in the Netherlands. He served as the co-director of an international conference on Managing Financial Risk sponsored by the Hofstra University Merrill Lynch Center for Research.

He currently serves on the editorial board of the Global Finance Journal and formerly served on the board of advisers of the Journal of International Financial Engineering. He was the editor of the Hofstra Business Review, and an advisory board member of the International Association of Financial Engineers.
