Bio:

Dr. Papaioannou earned a B.A. in economics with honors from the Athens School of Economics and Business Sciences, an M.B.A. from Duquesne University, and a Ph.D. in finance from The Pennsylvania State University.

His research interests include topics in corporate finance, investment banking and international finance. His teaching concentrates on corporate finance and investment banking.

He has conducted research on stock listings, corporate financial policy, mergers and acquisitions, the Greek stock market and security offerings.

His papers have appeared in Financial Management, The Financial Review, the Journal of Financial Research, the Journal of Financial Education, Managerial and Decision Economics, and other refereed journals in the United States and abroad; he is also a contributor to The New Palgrave Dictionary of Money and Finance. Dr. Papaioannou has also authored the study Development of Direct Financing in Greece. His work has been cited in journal articles and books. He has presented papers and participated in many academic conventions as a program committee member, discussant and session chair. He serves regularly as an ad hoc reviewer for academic journals. Dr. Papaioannou is on the editorial board of the Multinational Finance Journal and the Journal of Financial Services Marketing. He speaks Greek and has taught finance at Erasmus University, Rotterdam; the University of Piraeus; and ALBA Graduate Business School, Greece.

Dr. Papaioannou was Co-Director of two international conferences on global finance issues organized at Hofstra University and Co-Editor of the two volumes of proceedings.

He is currently the Director of the Merrill Lynch Center for the Study of International Financial Services and Markets at the Zarb School of Business. He serves on the board of directors of Nassau Educators Federal Credit Union. Dr. Papaioannou is a member of the American Finance Association; the Eastern, Southern, Southwestern, and Midwest Associations; and the Financial Management Association; and is a trustee of the Multinational Finance Society.
