Bio:

Dr. Ronald R. Janssen, is an associate professor in the Department of Writing Studies and Composition. He is the co-translator of Dialogues in Paradise, Old Floating Cloud, and The Embroidered Shoes, all by avant-garde Chinese woman writer Can Xue. He has taught and lectured extensively in China and publishes on Chinese arts and culture. He is currently developing a course in comparative rhetoric that will focus on Asian, especially Chinese, rhetoric. He is interested in experimental approaches to writing, which is the subject of his First Year Connections (FYC) seminar called “How Writers Break the Rules.”  His WSC-2 course uses the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences to explore the rules by which the self is socially and bio-chemically constructed.
