Dr. Kim earned a B.A. in economics at Kyungnam University, an M.B.A. at Georgia State University and a Ph.D. in business administration with a specialization in finance at Georgia State University.
He has taught at Kyungnam University in Korea, Rutgers University, the University of Baltimore, Baruch College, the University of Arizona and the University of North Texas. He has also conducted research as a visiting scholar at the Center for International Affairs, Harvard University.
Dr. Kim's general research interests include the agency theory of the firm and its extrapolation into emerging economies. His area of specialization focuses on the agency problems of foreign direct investment, cross-border acquisitions and capital market liberalization of emerging markets, especially issues related to Korea. His articles have been published in well-recognized journals, such as the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, The Financial Review, the Journal of Financial Research, the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, the Journal of International Business Studies, International Journal of Management and Review of Industrial Organization. Dr. Kim also has several articles in research books and presentations at professional conferences to his credit.
