Bio:

Carina Loscalzo is a graduate of the Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens Physician Assistant Program in 1998 and has since completed a Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant Studies with a focus on education and leadership. She has served in physician assistant programs since 2000 in multiple capacities, including academic, clinical, coordination and administrative roles. Clinically practicing in emergency medicine since graduating from PA school, she is able to apply patient encounters to classroom activities. Serving in multiple roles within the New York State Society of Physician Assistants (NYSSPA), including committee chair of NYSSPA News and member of the education committee, she displays her passion for the profession and strives to instill leadership qualities in her students.

Professor Loscalzo primarily teaches courses in physical diagnosis, diagnostic modalities, clinical medicine and anatomy. She enjoys incorporating active learning activities, such as case based learning into the PA curriculum. Her research interests include improvement of PA education for the developmentally disabled and the use of focus groups for summative assessment of curricular design.
