Bioethics Center Wins Grant to Host 'Humanism and Ethics' Night
Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY – Hofstra University’s Bioethics Center, under the director of Dr. Janet L. Dolgin, was awarded a $5,000 grant from the Arnold P. Goldman Foundation to sponsor a “Humanism and Ethics Night” that focused on the uses of neuro-imaging.The grant helped underwrite “Neuro-imaging: Ethical, Legal and Humanistic Dilemma in the Struggle for Consciousness” featuring Dr. Joseph Fins, of Weill Cornell Medical College, and Professor Hank Greely of the Stanford University Law School.
The Hofstra Bioethics Center is a joint project of the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine and the Maurice A. Deane School of law. This interdisciplinary center draws its faculty from the medical school, the law school, the School of Health Sciences and Human Services and the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences.
