"Coping With the New Normal: Life After Sandy"

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY … Hofstra University’s Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center is hosting “Coping With the ‘New Normal’: Life After Sandy.” This is a forum on the continued emotional impact of Superstorm Sandy and the free or nominally-priced community resources that remain available to members of the community who are still struggling. This breakfast is scheduled for Friday, May 17, 2013, from 8-10:30 a.m. at the Hofstra University Club, North Campus. Professionals working in local government or in other positions that involve close interaction with the community are encouraged to attend. Admission is free but advance registration is required at www.hofstra.edu/saltzmanRSVP.
The Community C.A.R.E. coalition is the organization presenting this event. The Coalition is made up of the following institutions or organizations:
• Hofstra University’s Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center
• The Family and Children’s Association of Nassau County
• The Nassau County Mental Health Association
• Nassau BOCES
The purpose of this gathering is to introduce the Community C.A.R.E. (Collaborative Alliance for Recovery and Empowerment) members to Long Island community leaders. The meeting will create a context for the leaders in attendance to provide feedback to the alliance about needs in their communities.

• Dr. Joseph Scardapane of Hofstra University’s Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center
• Dr. Lisa Harris of The Mental Health Association of Nassau County & Project Hope
• Dr. Robert Motta from The Family Trauma Clinic at the Saltzman Center
• Nancy Cohan, Senior Director/Team Leader of Family & Children's Association
• Lucinda Hurley of Nassau BOCES.

Directions to Hofstra University Club
From Queens/New York City: Take Long Island Expressway going East to Exit 38 (Northern Parkway) to Meadowbrook Parkway South (Exit 31A). Proceed on Meadowbrook Parkway to Exit M4 West (Hempstead Turnpike). Follow Hempstead Turnpike (Route 24) west to Hofstra. At the third traffic light from the Meadowbrook, turn right and enter North Campus. David S. Mack Hall is immediately visible on the right side. Signs will direct you to available parking.
From Eastern Long Island: Take Northern State Parkway to Meadowbrook Parkway South (Exit 31A) or Southern State Parkway to Meadowbrook Parkway North (Exit 22N). Proceed on Meadowbrook Parkway to Exit M4 West (Hempstead Turnpike). Continue with the above directions from Hempstead Turnpike.
