Hofstra University Museum Features Local Artist

Wendy Csoka's "Bell's, Baubles, and Farce"

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra University Museum presents an original exhibit featuring Long Island artist Wendy Csoka. The exhibit, "Bells, Baubles and Farce" which was created in conjunction with the Hofstra University Cultural Center conference, "At Whom Are We Laughing?",  will be on display February 5 through April 27, 2008 in the Museum’s Rochelle and Irwin A. Lowenfeld Conference and Exhibition Hall, at the Joan and Donald E. Axinn Library, 10th Floor, South Campus.

 “Viewing Wendy Csoka’s work provides Hofstra University students and the community with the unusual and stimulating opportunity to explore the many layers of the artistic process,” said Beth E. Levinthal, Director of the Hofstra University Museum.

Bells, Baubles and Farce includes preliminary sketches, charcoal renderings, and watercolors used in the preparation of the final large scale canvas. Wendy’s work has been included in numerous exhibits at the galleries of Long Island.  In June 2007 a solo exhibit of her work was sponsored by the Sea Cliff Arts Council.  In 2006, the artist was the subject of "everything is asleep until it wakes up" The Art of Wendy Csoka, published by Second Float Press.

A reception to honor the artist will take place on Friday, April 11 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Rochelle and Irwin A. Lowenfeld Conference and Exhibition Hall. In order to attend you must be registered for the conference dinner.
