The Hofstra group was led by Terry Greis, the energy, environmental health and safety manager for the University's Plant Department. The team also included a first-year student and her mother. In addition to donating their time and energy, the Hofstra team raised $2,300 for Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk County.

This future home of Dorri Auerbach and her 11-year-old daughter Stephanie will take five months to complete and will be constructed entirely by women. From the framing and flooring, to the top of the roof, women will be the driving force behind the thousands of nails that it takes to construct a home.

The Suffolk County chapter of Habitat for Humanity builds an average of 13 houses a year, and in 2008 it expects to complete its 125th house.

In addition to Terry Greis, Hofstra participants included Lauren Benedict, Jennifer Boscarino-Green, Mary Coleman, Jamie Cote, JoEllen Flatt, Rachael Flatt, Sue Guarrieri, Monique Hill, Branka Kristic, Lisa McCluskey, Rosemary McConkey, Alison Milewski, Barbara Moran, Mercedes Ravelo, Patti Reilly, Arianne Romeo, Suzanne Shareef, Alexandra Steinberg, Angela Steinberg and Enza Vario.
