HOFSTRA STUDENT AND OCEANSIDE RESIDENT DANIELLE REED SELECTED TO REPRESENT THE NASSAU COUNTY SONS OF ITALY LODGES IN THE LI AND NYC COLUMBUS DAY PARADES

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY … Hofstra University music major and Oceanside resident Danielle Reed, a member and officer of the Michael Valente Lodge, #2667, Sons of Italy, Long Beach, was selected by a panel of judges to represent the 17 lodges in Nassau County as their queen at the Huntington and New York City Columbus Day Parades on October 7 and 8, respectively.

In their determination of who would be pageant queen, the panel of judges reviewed applicants’ community service activities, lodge involvement, and asked questions about Italian heritage, customs and education. Danielle frequently volunteers her time and efforts to work at local nursery schools, nursing homes and her church. She is also active with many charitable organizations, including Key Club, Ciao, March of Dimes, Columbian Lawyers Association, FOP, and the Sons of Italy.  During her year as Nassau County Queen, Danielle will represent the Sons of Italy at many social and charitable events.

Danielle’s passion is singing – especially Italian songs and operettas. She has performed at The Friars Club in New York City, at Hofstra’s annual Italian Experience Festival and at many Indian functions where she performs in Hindi and Punjabi. She sings in eight languages. Danielle also plays 15 instruments, and her favorites are the oboe and baritone saxophone.
