International Scene Lecture Series Spring 2011 hosts four-lecture series

Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY -- Hofstra's International Scene Lecture Series or the Spring 2011 semester will examine U.S. foreign and economic policy and feature a wide variety of speakers, including Howard B. Dean III and Edward J. Rollins, senior presidential fellows for the Peter S. Kalikow Center for the Study of the American Presidency.

The four -lecture series  aims to present diverse views and stimulate conversation and debate among students and the Hofstra community:

The Austerity Budget, Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, featuring Richard Wolff, emeritus professor of economics, University of Massachussets.

The Self-Inflicted Wounds of 9/11, Tuesday, Mar. 1, 2011, featuring Mel Goodman, senior fellow, Center for International Policy

Evaluating President Obama’s Foreign Policy, Wednesday, Mar. 16, 2011 in 246 East Library Wing, Joan and Donald E. Axinn Library, South Campus, featuring Stephen Walt, professor of international affairs, Harvard University ; Howard B. Dean III, former Vermont governor and Democratic presidential candidate; and Edward J. Rollins, Republican strategist and former White House Deputy Chief of Staff 246 East Library Wing, Joan and Donald E. Axinn Library, South Campus

Prophets of War: Lockheed Martin and the Making of the Military Industrial Complex, Wednesday, March 30, 2011, featuring William Hartung, director, arms and security initiative, New American Foundation.

All events will take place at Leo A. Guthart Theater except the March 16, lecture. The lectures will run from  11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.  There will be a question and answer period following each lecture.  For more information on the International Scene Lecture Series, please call (516) 463-5595.
