Alexander Dobrecevic

My name is Alexander Dobrecevic, and it is my distinct pleasure to serve as your Undersecretary-General of HUMUNC 2013.  I am currently a junior at Hofstra majoring in Economics, and minoring in Arabic, as well as Middle Eastern and Central Asian studies.  I spent this past summer in Lebanon, where I was able to speak with the former head of the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon. In addition to Model United Nations, I am a Resident Assistant and I work at the School of Law Library.

Being from California and attending a high school that doesn’t have a Model UN team, my first experience with Model UN was as a dais for the Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee at HUMUNC 2012. My first conference as a competitor was this past November at the University of Pennsylvania Conference. My experience there was amazing, and one that I hope you might be able to have here at Hofstra.  

It is my sincere hope that this year’s three day conference will present you with the opportunity to practice your skills as a public speaker and to gain experience in the art-form that is politicking. I wish you all a wonderful experience and cannot wait to interact with you in March.
