My name is Imran Ansari, and I will be serving as secretary-general during the first ever Hofstra University Model United Nations Conference. I am a junior at Hofstra University majoring in political science, with a double minor in international affairs and economics. In addition to my involvement in Model U.N., I am a resident assistant, a founder and currently the fundraising chair for Phi Alpha Delta Pre-law Fraternity, and an intern in Senator Kirsten Gillibrand’s Long Island office.
I hail from Commack, New York, and first joined Model U.N. during my junior year at Commack High School. My first year in Model U.N., I attended Cornell Model United Nations Conference 2008. Since then, I have been immersed in Model U.N. During the spring semester of my first year at Hofstra, I became president of our Model U.N. and have been working to create this conference ever since.
As delegates at the Hofstra University Model United Nations Conference, you will partake in thought-provoking and deeply analytical debate while enjoying the camaraderie that only a Model U.N. conference can provide. Delegates will learn from one another as well as from our top-notch chairs. On the behalf of my secretariat, staff, and faculty, I welcome you to Hofstra University Model United Nations Conference. I look forward to meeting all of you in March.
