Why did you pick your major?
After studying and taking a liking to Chemistry, I found the nanotechnology industry and had a natural calling to it.
Why did you pick Hofstra?
Knowing the success of the faculty and Hofstra’s department made the choice of college easy for me.
Internships:
Hofstra Center for Condensed Matter Research (summer 2011 and 2012); worked with Dr. Levine on theoretical quantum physics
Favorite campus activity:
Sporting events
Why?
We get to support fellow students and see the entire campus come out for fun events.
Favorite class/professor:
Dr. Levine’s Quantum Mechanics
Why?
He made a possible incredibly boring class relevant and interesting.
What do you take the most “Pride” in?
I will always look back at Hofstra and take great pride in my education.
Favorite thing about NY/Long Island:
This area is similar to my hometown but with a different sort of people. The LIRR gives Hofstra student access to the entire city and long island region
Favorite campus eatery:
Au Bon Pain
Favorite campus spot:
Physics Department office hanging out with department secretary Denise LoMonaco.
What surprised you about Hofstra?
How easy time management was with being involved with several clubs, teams and organizations.
What is your idea of success in 5 years? Or in 20 years?
Operating my own start up company advancing the industry of clean energy.
Best Hofstra memory:
Breaking the school record for wins in 2012 and having the highest finish in school history.
Favorite (short) Hofstra story:
Fun team experiences on bus rides are definitely memorable. Last year, Andrew Barbarino took on a bet that he could stand for the entire trip from Hofstra to UNC Wilmington (a 12 hour trip). The feat became known as “Barbo stands”, as my teammates began tweeting about it. To our surprise, other CAA teams noticed the tweet and began sharing the story. Barbo made it all the way to Wilmington. During pregame, we got questions from the field crew about “Barbo stands” and how they followed our entire trip on Twitter; many other teams throughout the year informed us that they had followed as well. It was definitely made the long bus ride enjoyable.
What do you take the most “Pride” in?
I will always look back at Hofstra and take great pride in my education. The one on one experience with Hofstra faculty who are industry leaders and experiences through classes make me feel very prepared in pursuing my doctoral degree next year.
What have you found as your “Purpose?”
I believe I act as a reflection of the Hofstra faculty successes. I am honored to have experienced all I have and know that without the mentors and teachers I have experienced here, my future would be very different.
