How long have you been at Hofstra?
Since August of 1998.
Major contributions to Hofstra community:
I treat my job as a truly professional position. Ensuring I am always presentable and available to my students is a priority of mine.
I like to spend time with my family; also I am interested in nursing and health care.
Why did you go into your field?
I like to give back and take care of people. I felt this position allowed me to do both.
Favorite campus activity:
Move-Ins. Getting to help the students with anything from getting furniture in rooms, to helping them arrange their space on their first day to campus. It is always an exciting day.
Favorite thing about NY/Long Island region:
The wide variety of locations, the beaches and Manhattan are only a short trip away.
Favorite campus eatery:
I work there but still believe it – The Netherland’s Cafe
Favorite campus spot:
What general advice or information about your department/services would you give students?
Enjoy your time, and always reach out to your maintenance crew if you need something.
Best Hofstra memory:
One year at move-ins students could not get their couch to the second floor of a building. Me and my team assisted, and even though it was a funny situation we were able to assist the young female students in getting all their furniture to the second floor room.
What do you take the most “Pride” in here on campus:
I like the respect that is found across campus. Working here you are not only respected by your colleagues but Hofstra gives you great opportunities, both academically with schooling and professionally.
What have you found as your “Purpose” here on campus:
To make my position mean a lot! Being a custodian offers your great opportunities to learn more about the Hofstra community and other areas of work.
