How long have you been at Hofstra?
25 years – so fortunate!

Department/Title?
Sr. Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Recreation/Intramural Sports

Major accomplishment or contributions to Hofstra community:  I have had the opportunity to build the recreation program through the years for our students and campus community.  Increasingly recreation has become an integral component of college life and continues to be instrumental in student recruitment, satisfaction and retention initiatives.

Interesting hobbies?
I love to do fitness challenges that test both my physical and mental strengths. I also really enjoy working with Habitat for Humanity. Helping people…I just love doing it!

Why did you go into your field?
Passion...I love what I do!  I believe in a healthy lifestyle and I want to spread my knowledge, expertise and motivation to all others so they can achieve their fitness potentials by training in a practical and realistic manner.

Favorite campus activity
I love new student orientations and also Fall Festival.  It’s always fun meeting new students and their families!  The spirit amongst all on this campus, particularly during those times, is ROCKIN’!

Favorite Activity with the student body?
I really enjoy working either one on one or in a group setting with students helping them navigate the Fitness Center and/or designing exercise routines.  Teaching them to take better care of their bodies and to appreciate them is beyond gratifying.

Favorite thing about NY/Long Island region:
It’s home!

What do you take the most “Pride” in here on campus?
I take great pride that my part of my position here is to keep people happy and in a healthy lifestyle.

Favorite campus eatery:
Although I don’t often eat on campus, when I do I usually go to the Student Center Café.

Favorite campus spot:
Undoubtedly…the Fitness Center!

What general advice or information about your department/services would you give students?
I always talk about the Center and how beautiful it is and how it is their facility so they should use it!  The facility features and program offerings provide students with a wide array of fitness opportunities so I encourage them to take full advantage of it all.

What general advice about college life would you give students?
Start strong and continue on stronger!  Get involved and find the balance of academics, fitness and fun!

Best Hofstra memory:
Wow…so many!!!  I suppose my absolute best memory will always be my involvement in every aspect of the Fitness Center renovation.  That was beyond HUGE!

Favorite (short) Hofstra story:
Here I am sitting in a room with all my colleagues from the Student Affairs Division at a professional development training listening to President Rabinowitz speak.  He suddenly announces that the Fitness Center renovation was going to happen, which completely caught me off guard and was totally shocking!!!  Following his announcement, I ran out of the room to thank him and everyone thought I was going to tackle him down!

What do you take the most “Pride” in here on campus?
I take great pride that my part of my position here is to keep people happy and in a healthy lifestyle.  Working with our students, staff, and entire community gives me a feeling of success and allows me to interact with the whole Hofstra family.

What have you found as your “Purpose” here on campus?
Being a part of the Fitness Center’s remodeling and launch was a great opportunity.  Playing a lead role in design, layout and technology upgrades allowed me to advocate for our students and community and was a phenomenal experience!
