Summer Orientation - What to Bring

Here are a few suggestions:

  • Student ID Number (Hofstra University-generated number that begins with 70). It is included in the mailings from the Office of Undergraduate Admission.
  • Photo identification
  • Pen and pencil
  • Verification of immunization for measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), if it is not already on file with the University. It is extremely important that each student provide the University with updated verification of vaccinations. Students who do not comply with this New York state law will be removed from classes. Contact the Health and Wellness Center at (516) 463-6745 with any questions.
  • Official Transcripts for Advanced Placement credit, college credits or credit for any other special programs
  • Paperwork that needs to be submitted to the University, such as financial aid forms
  • Your laptop computer (if you have one) so that University software can be installed.
  • Hofstra ID receipt and vehicle for registration. (Only one vehicle per student may be registered.)
  • Alarm clock
  • Sweatshirt or jacket. The air conditioning is quite powerful!
  • Bathing suit - You will have access to the pool.
  • Workout clothes - You will have access to the Recreation Center
  • Linens (pillowcase, sheets and towel). A pillow and blanket are provided.
  • Umbrella
  • Small light. There are no freestanding lamps in the individual rooms.
  • Extra spending money (optional). Some students choose to shop at the Hofstra University Bookstore and sample some of the University’s many on-campus dining offerings in addition to the meals provided during the three-day New Student Orientation program.
