"Hofstra University offers co-curricular programs and activities that foster an awareness of local, national and global issues, encouraging students to be active citizens and contributors to their local, national and global communities."-Excerpt from Hofstra University's Mission Statement
Student Leadership and Activities (SLA) provides opportunities for students, faculty and staff to connect with each other while contributing to, participating in and learning more about the community in which we live.
The benefits of the community service our student volunteers provide are reciprocal. Whether they are collecting goods for a food drive, gathering trash for a neighborhood cleanup effort or working in a soup kitchen, our students meet the needs within our surrounding communities. In turn, each project creates a learning opportunity for everyone involved to become more engaged in their world.
Community Service initiatives are coordinated each semester by SLA to support and challenge our students to become agents of change and develop leadership skills. Review this website and take your time to explore your volunteer options! For more information, please contact SLA via e-mail.
