The Mission of Fraternity & Sorority Organizations

Fraternity and sorority life members seek to create an inclusive environment that challenges students to develop into leaders who uphold the values, oaths, and commitments of their collegiate fraternal organization at Hofstra.  Members value ongoing relationships with alumni, volunteers, campus administrators and the surrounding community in order to create meaningful and purposeful undergraduate experiences that fosters a commitment to service and lifetime membership.

Service

Fraternity & Sorority organizations have a strong commitment to community service. Participation in various campus, community, and philanthropic activities foster the individual's lifelong commitment to civic engagement. The Fraternity & Sorority organizations at Hofstra have demonstrated their commitment to the University and the community time and time again; if you are a person who has a passion to serve others, then involvement with a Fraternity & Sorority organization may be a rewarding experience for you.

Intellectual Awareness

Fraternity & Sorority organizations create an atmosphere that encourages their members to broaden their intellectual horizons and sharpen their academic skills. In addition, Fraternity & Sorority organizations assist their members in the pursuit of scholarship and academic achievements by providing tutorial assistance when needed, and rewarding superior achievement.

Outstanding academic performance is recognized through the National Order of Omega. Students from diverse cultures, as well as varying religious and socioeconomic backgrounds are encouraged to participate in the Fraternity & Sorority system. Activities and programs designed to promote the understanding and acceptance of diverse populations are a critical part of the Fraternity & Sorority experience. In accordance with the Mission of Hofstra University, the Fraternity & Sorority organizations at Hofstra will offer equal opportunity for the participation of any individual regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, physical handicap, age, or sexual orientation.
