About Us

The Hofstra Cheerleading program is currently comprised of one nationally recognized co-ed squad. The squad promotes school spirit for Hofstra athletic teams such as football, men's basketball, women's basketball and volleyball games. Performances are also required at University festivals, admissions events, and morning TV news shows.

The season kicks off the beginning of August with an intense summer training session for a 9 day period. During this session the squad attends a College Summer Camp hosted by UCA. For the past six years, Hofstra took 1st place in the Chant Competition! Also, we are so proud to announce that Hofstra Cheer won the Cheer Competition and received the MOST COLLEGIATE AWARD this past 2008 summer!!

Each member is required to maintain an overall 2.0 or greater GPA, and be registered as a full-time student for the fall and spring semesters. Becoming a member is a full school-year commitment, starting in August and ending in May. Fall semester practices are 3-4 times per week, and spring semester practices are two times per week. The Nationals Team is required to be available for two practices per day over the intersession. Practice times are given to the squad well in advance so that they may plan their class schedules accordingly.

Limited scholarships are available, and are offered to our veterans who demonstrate overall commitment and dedication to the program. The University provides the squad with summer-training practice clothes, other Cheer apparel, uniforms, camp costs, transportation, hotel accommodations, and the National Competition trip!

The Small Co-ed team is highly competitive and competes nationally once per year at UCA's College Championship in Orlando, FL. The Nationals team is comprised of the program's most elite group of 12 women and 4 men. For the past four years the Pride Cheerleaders have ranked in the Nation's Top 10 and won the Small Co-ed Championship title in 2003 and 2006!
