Christine Nowierski
Head Coach
Christine Nowierski will be entering her 6th year as Head Coach for the 2008-09 season. Christine is honored to be coaching at her alma mater. She graduated with a B.B.A. in finance from Hofstra in 1999. A four-year member of the Cheer team, Christine was captain of the coed squad. During those four years the team honored Christine with many awards, including Most Dedicated '97-'98, '98-'99, Outstanding Jumper '98-'99, and Most Valuable '97-'98, '98-'99. The Hofstra Pride Club also presented Ms. Nowierski with the Outstanding Senior Athlete Award in 1999.
Christine is also a five-year head cheerleading instructor for the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA), and in her sixth year with the company moved on to become the territory manager for the Cheerleader & Danz Team. At the 1999 Tri-State Cheer and Dance Open, Christine and her partner took 1st place in the College Partner Stunt Competition. She received NCA's Top Veteran Award in 2000, and also was chosen to judge NCA's 2000 World Championship in Germany.
During her career at Hofstra she has led the team to making Hofstra History and won a Back to Back National Championship title in 2006 and 2007. Her team has been highlighted in American Cheerleader Magazine in 2007 and in 2008 for the College Spotlight. At camps her team has won the Most Collegiate Award, Leadership Award, and many 1st place trophies in the Cheer and Chant divisions. Christine is AACCA-certified and also has a certification in Safety, First Aid and CPR. Christine is committed to developing a strong family atmosphere, and will continually strive to make this program one of the best in the nation!
Matt Jones
Assistant Coach
This is Matt Jones' first year as Assistant Coach for the 2008-2009 season. Like Christine, Matt is also coaching at his alma mater, as he recently graduated in May 2008 with a B.B.A. in Finance with a GPA of 3.4. As a four-year member of the Hofstra University Cheer Team, Matt competed all 4 years and was a vital member of the 2006 and 2007 Back to Back National Championships squad. Over the Course of his four years at Hofstra he earned awards such as; Rookie of the year and Most improved in 2005, Best all Around 2006 and 2007, Best Spotter Award 2006-2008, The PRIDE club award and the Game Day Leadership Award in 2008. After winning Nationals in 2006 Matt was selected as one of American Cheerleader Magazine’s All Americans.
During his time at Hofstra Matt also has coached gymnastics, and was a competitive team coach for Gold Medal Gymnastics. Matt holds a United States Gymnastics Association coaching number. He is AACCA-certified, and also certified in Safety, First AID, AED, and CPR. Matt is extremely excited to continue being a part of the Hofstra Cheer family, and looking forward to the upcoming year!
