How do graduate candidates get the best job opportunities? Through networking! Networking and job referrals account for 80% of all job and internship employment. The best referrals for jobs come from valid connections (not just sending a "friend" or "linked in" request). To build a strong network, connect to someone who may be a member of the same professional association, a fellow alumnus of your undergraduate or graduate school (or even high school), professors you established relationships with, fellow classmates, or the friend of a friend to whom you were introduced either personally or professionally.
We recommend and support the following ways to build a valid and effective professional network:
Executive Speaker Series: Graduate Business Career Services schedules experienced executive speakers throughout the year who can offer you the opportunity to learn and establish a professional relationship.
Invited guests include:
Professional Development
National Black M.B.A. Association: www.nbmbaa.org
National Society Of Hispanic MBA: www.nshmba.org
National Association of Asian MBAs : www.asianmba.org
Net Impact (corporate social responsibility): www.netimpact.org
National Association of Women MBAs: www.mbawomen.org

LinkedIn
Re-connect, power your career and get answers. Find past and present colleagues and classmates quickly. LinkedIn makes staying in touch simple. Discover inside connections when you're looking for a job or new business opportunity. Your network is full of industry experts willing to share advice.
We suggest establishing a profile and presence on Linkedin. Linkedin has great search tools which will enable you to search for Zarb alumni and others in business fields you want to learn more about. Participating in groups such as The Zarb Alumni Association Group, The Official Graduate Business Career Services Group, and the Hofstra Zarb School of Business Group can keep your Zarb associations up to date and groups that are relevant to your field of interest and world issues effecting business are excellent sources of information and job connections.
