A Message from the Director

Hofstra University offers excellent undergraduate and graduate programs on a beautiful, suburban campus, an academically challenging environment, a nationally renowned faculty, state-of-the-art living and learning facilities, exciting programs and an award winning dining service.

The Dining Services currently has 20 campus locations that are conveniently situated. The Student Center, located in the core of the campus, has a Student Center Café that offers an authentic Asian food station, a gourmet salad bar, vegan and vegetarian specialties, organic food, Charcoal’s Grill, Breads and Spreads Deli, The Omelet Pan, Juice Event, an ice cream and hand-rolled pretzel station, Action Stations featuring seasonal rotating specialties, fresh fish, fresh baked muffins, pastry and cakes. Also located in the Student Center are California Pizza Kitchen, Eli’s Kosher Kitchen and Taro13.

As you enter the South side of campus, you'll find the newly renovated Café Bistro at Bits & Bytes. With completely new floors, seating and lighting, this Café is a great hangout spot. Try a healthy and delicious frozen yogurt from the brand new Red Mango, or satisfy your appetite with Italian cuisine from 2.Mato, fresh salads from UPick Chopped Salads, gourmet paninis from the Panini Shoppe, and create your ideal burger at BYOB.

The next stop is Café on the Quad, which features Starbucks Coffee and an assortment of fresh baked goods.

Next is the brand new Au Bon Pain, located at the Hofstra Deli. Au Bon Pain is a branded franchise that is extremely popular in Manhattan and other metropolitan areas. Try the freshly baked breads and pastries, signature salads and sandwiches, or choose from their wide assortment of hot beverages.

As you enter Breslin Hall for a class, you will bump into the Breslin Kiosk. Enjoy some fresh juice, coffee and a muffin, or stop in later for a grab and go lunch. In Kushner Hall, the School of Law, you can find the brand new Outtakes Kiosk, featuring grab and go sandwiches, salads and snacks.

If you are attending class in C.V. Starr Hall, the main level has the Starr Café. This modern shop offers a mix of hot and cold "grab & go" food, Au Bon Pain salads, soups and sandwiches, bottled drinks, coffee, muffins, cakes and pastries.

Should you be taking a class in Hagedorn Hall, you will see the Cyber Café, fresh brewed coffee, hot and cold gourmet food, specialty salads, fresh baked goods and a variety of snacks and drinks.

As you make your back to the north side of campus, there is the Netherlands located on Oak Street. It offers a spacious yet cozy atmosphere with outstanding food. Grab a smoothie or blended coffee beverage from Java Connect, or a tasty sub from Subway.

Continuing north is the Hofstra USA complex that includes Dutch Treats, a convenience store that offers a complete mix of groceries, fresh baked goods, household products, fresh produce, and a hot and cold deli section. As an added convenience to students, Dutch Treats is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Also located in the complex is HofUSA, a brand new student-friendly space that features pool tables, arcade games, and other entertainment. Get together with friends on a Friday night and enjoy delicious American food at the bar, or a friendly game of foosball.

My vision is to ensure our Dining Services management team and staff provide Hofstra students with a first class food service operation and personalized customer service while they pursue their higher education goals, as well as all administration, faculty, and staff.
