Student Computing Services (SCS) hires students to be trained as computer lab student assistance. Those interested should fill out applications which are available in the SCS office, located at 106C Calkins Hall, at the rear of the Calkins computer lab.
SAs work a minimum of 12 hours per week. Hours are available between 8 A.M. and midnight, 7 days a week.
Working as a Computer Lab Student Assistant is a unique experience that involves:
Learning about computer hardware, software and operating systems
Problem solving
Customer Service
Encouraging students to use the equipment and technical resources provided by Hofstra.
We are the second largest employer of student at Hofstra.
We are a community. We teach, train and support each other.
The basic requirements are:
Excellent interpersonal communications skill
Ability to learn quickly
Desire to learn more about computers
Enthusiasm to face new challenges
A working knowledge of computers and/or one or more of Hofstra's computer systems is a plus.
