What is the Resident Student Association?

The Resident Student Association (RSA) is a unique student-run organization that exists to improve the quality of life of Hofstra residential students by offering programs based on students' interests, as well as promoting a safe, supportive and welcoming community. RSA is nationally affiliated with the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH), which provides its leaders with opportunities to attend conferences and programs to further develop leadership skills and give fellow students the power to impact their own community.

Aside from being the fun and exciting group of people that we all are, the RSA of Hofstra University is a creative and dynamic branch of the Office of Residential Programs that deals with the residents of the University.  We address the problems, concerns and questions that resident students may have, along with representing the collective interests of Hofstra’s resident students to the SGA, Administration, and the community at large.  In conjunction with these functions, RSA provides social and educational events for individual residence halls and the college as a whole by organizing community building activities with other organizations on campus, and actively promoting diversity in activities and policies.  Such activities include the Snowball Semi-Formal Dance, Movies on the Intramural Field (Blades of Glory & National Treasure 2), Spring BBQ, in conjunction with the Organization of Commuting Students, complete with caricature drawing, cotton candy, a DJ, and large inflatable activities, Relay for Life, as well as a hypnotist fund-raising activity.

Part of the RSA mission statement is to aid the Office of Residential Programs in maintaining and improving living conditions for all residential students. With this in mind the Residential Student Association is a body that the University looks to for input on important policy matters relating to the residence halls.
