Employers from different industries visit The Career Center each semester to host information sessions for students to learn about opportunities within their organizations. Many of these employers recruit candidates at Hofstra University, and use this opportunity to select potential interview candidates for full-time and internship opportunities. All information sessions are held at The Career Center, unless otherwise noted. Professional business attire is strongly recommended.

Over the next two years the largest federal agencies project that they will need to fill nearly 193,000 job openings. With the growing need to attract top talent; an increase in the amount agencies are spending on student loan repayment, signing bonuses and relocation expenses; and unparalleled opportunities to pursue a wide array of career experiences, this is a great time for job-seekers to enter into federal service. The government offers employment opportunities across the country and around the world to candidates from every academic discipline. Join us for a program to meet Hofstra graduates who are working in federal service positions and a representative from the federal government who will help you learn how to find and apply for the job or internship that is right for you. NYC Teaching Fellows Information Session
The NYC Teaching Fellows program has brought more than 8,000 fellows to teach in the New York City public schools. The program seeks out candidates with little to no teaching experience who have decided to change their lives and teach in the classrooms that need teachers most. Trained in an intensive pre-service program, fellows teach in the New York City public schools while simultaneously, pursuing his/her own education through a subsidized Masters degree program. Fellows also benefit from a regular teachers salary and benefits. A recruiter will be visiting Hofstra to provide you with more details and application deadline information.

Hear from a NYC Department of Education recruiter about the benefits of working in the NYC school system! Additionally, the recruiter will provide detailed information about application procedures. Students receiving education certifications are encouraged to attend.

International Student Volunteers (ISV) Information Session
Come hear from a recruiter about ISV and learn how to apply. ISV runs programs for students combining two weeks of volunteer work and two weeks of cultural/adventure touring in six different countries during the summer break. Students can choose to do their volunteer work in Social Community Development or in Conservation. More than 3000 students travel with ISV every year to countries such as Australia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, New Zealand and Thailand.
