The Zarb School of Business Alumni Association, in conjunction with The Career Center, is conducting a Resume Critique and Reception for students to have their resumes reviewed by industry professionals. Students are encouraged to come out to meet with Hofstra alumni who will review and explain how to develop a highly effective and professional resume. An introductory reception will be held prior to the event, providing students with an opportunity to network with alumni. Optional Practical Training (OPT) Workshop for International Students

The Office of Multicultural and International Student Programs and The Career Center are offering a comprehensive workshop for all international students who are applying for Optional Practical Training. The workshop is designed for students in F-1 status, and provides information on a type of employment authorization granted through the U. S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that is available before and after you complete your studies. Optional Practical Training provides actual employment experience in your chosen profession and complements your educational experience. Refreshments will be served.

All students participating in Pride Recruiting are required to attend a 30-minute mock interview. Alumni from the Frank G. Zarb School of Business as well as several employers are volunteering their time to spend a day at Hofstra conducting these mock interview sessions. Curricular Practical Training (CPT) Workshop for International Students

The Office of Multicultural & International Student Programs and The Career Center offer a comprehensive workshop for all international students who are applying for Curricular Practical Training. This workshop is designed for students in F-1 status. It provides information on a type of employment that is available prior to the completion of your studies. Curricular Practical Training work authorization allows international students to participate in internships, cooperative education, or practicums that are integral to their programs of study. CPT can be granted by the designated school official only with the recommendation of the student’s academic adviser or, in the adviser’s absence, the department director and instructor. Refreshments will be served.

With the growing need to attract top talent; an increase in the amount agencies are spending on student loan repayment, signing bonuses and relocation expenses; and unparalleled opportunities to pursue a wide array of career experiences, this is a great time to consider a career in the federal government. The government offers employment opportunities across the country and around the world to candidates from every academic discipline. This event features Hofstra graduates who are working in federal service positions as well as a representative from the federal government who can offer advice on how to find and apply for a job or internship with a federal agency. Join us for a unique dining event with a three-course dinner and an interactive seminar. You learn how to conduct yourself on interviews and meetings in a dining atmosphere and proper networking etiquette. Students may be assigned to industry-specific tables and have the opportunity to network with employers. To R.S.V.P., students must drop off a $10 refundable deposit to The Career Center. It will be returned to you the night of the event. Space is limited; reserve your seat early.

The Office of Multicultural and International Student Programs and The Career Center are offering a comprehensive workshop for all international students who are applying for H-1 immigration status. The H-1 visa, Temporary Worker in a Specialty Occupation, is used to sponsor foreign nationals in a variety of professions where the job requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.
