General Career Services

  • Individual Appointments may be scheduled in advance to discuss career plans and job search strategies by calling (516) 463-6060. Please note: The office reserves the Wednesday evening appointments for graduate business candidates who are working full-time during the day and alumni. Phone appointments may also be scheduled to accommodate the needs of working students.
  • Quick Question Sessions are designed for students to stop by the Career Center on a first-come, first-served basis to have a brief 10-minute opportunity to discuss quick questions related resume development or career concerns. These hours are scheduled for most Thursday s, 4-5 p.m., when classes are in session. Additional hours are also posted to accommodate special program needs.
  • Resume Critiques are available as needed for the internship or full –time job search and are required for participation in the Frank G. Zarb School of Graduate Business Resume Book. Continual revisions to resumes are suggested as students develop additional functional skills, accomplishments through part-time employment, internships, extracurricular activities, and leadership roles.
  • Mock Interviews, conducted and videotaped by request, by the Career Services staff, are highly recommended as an effective means of preparation for actual job interviews. Mock interviews help students develop or refine their job interview skills.
  • The Career Resource Library houses books on the job search, directories of potential employers, resources offering insight into various career fields, up-to-date business periodicals, binders with job listings, job posting services at www.hofstra.edu/career (see "Graduate Business School Career Services, Hofstra Job Connection"). There are also computer workstations for updating resumes and accessing Internet career resources.
