Time Management

Why is time management important?

We hear how important it is ALL the TIME - but another way to think of it is ENERGY MANAGEMENT. There are many strategies for making the most of both your time and energy. Here are a few:

- Treat your "school career" as if it is a "nine-to-five" job. This means you would structure yourself to work from 9am-5pm (or any other block of 8 hours) in which you take care of your academic responsibilities: studying, paper-writing, math homework, etc. Schedule windows of time for each, based on when your classes are. Don't forget your lunch break!

Quick Tips

  • "It takes time to save time" - Before you dive into your work, take 10 minutes or so to organize and plan.
  • Keep your planner on you so you can add events and make changes as they arise. Don't wait! It could go in one ear and out the other. Use a "to do " list
  • Break larger tasks into smaller ones by using a "to-do" list of steps. Remember to be proud of yourself every time you cross something off!

Procrastination - AHHH!

You're not alone. Procrastination is one of the MOST COMMON challenges for all of us! Sometimes we procrastinate because we think the task is too difficult or painful - but the bright side of this is that you can break through the block that is procrastination by changing how you perceive the task.
