Hofstra's Academic Success Program

"Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young."

-Henry Ford

Mission

The Academic Success Program (ASP) is a brand-new venture within the Center for University Advisement. It is founded on the principles and success of the University Tutorial Program, which has been providing tutorial support to Hofstra undergraduate students since 1981, and is internationally accredited by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). Purpose

The ASP meets our current generation of learners where they are by listening to their needs and responding with solutions. We target students' specific challenges, such as time management, procrastination, goals, motivation, note-taking, study strategies, learning differences, and stress management. The ASP provides in-person workshops and comprehensive online resources such as the tools on this website to share this game-changing information. Students can “learn to learn” by developing and advancing their abilities, whether they are already doing well or if they are struggling. This program, combined with our time-honored individual and group tutorial sessions, helps students build skills and showcase their unique strengths and qualities, to propel them into a lifetime of success.

Our purpose can be reflected in the sentiment of one of the most honored and successful people of our time, Coach John Wooden: “Success is peace of mind attained only through self-satisfaction in knowing you’ve made the effort to become the best you are capable of becoming."
