

Orientation
New international students must attend International Student Orientation which is a three day program that precedes each semester. International Student Orientation provides students with information on immigration, academic requirements, including all the numerous services available to assist students make the most of their educational experience at Hofstra. Trips and events are scheduled during the week of orientation to acclimate new students to the campus as well as the local community.
Registration
During orientation, all new international students are required to take the English Language Proficiency (ELP) test. After this exam, students will meet with a representative in the English Language Department to discuss their score and are then placed in an appropriate level of instruction. After you take the ELP test you will meet with an academic adviser and discuss your course selection requirements. After you have been advised as to which courses to take, you will be registered for classes. Although new students cannot pre-register, in future semesters you may do so.
Billing
After you register for classes, you will be counseled regarding the amount due. The Student Accounts Office, in room 206 Memorial Hall will process your payment for each semester. Payment for the semester is due after registration. For new students due dates for billing will change after your initial semester here, so be sure to find out when payments are due to avoid late fees.
