Ryan M. Greene

In addition to serving as the Director of the Office, Ryan also serves as an Instructor in the College of Education, Health, and Human Services at Hofstra, teaching “EDCP 317: Higher Education Governance” to Masters and Doctoral students pursuing careers in the field of higher education administration. His recent publications have appeared in the journal International Higher Education and in the book Higher Education in Africa: The International Dimension (2008), edited by Dr. Damtew Teferra and Dr. Jane Knight.
Prior to his appointment at Hofstra Ryan served as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Pretoria in Tshwane, South Africa where he conducted dissertation research on the internationalization of their College of Education. Two summers ago Ryan also spent time in South Africa taking classes and serving as a Visiting Researcher at the University of Witwatersrand helping lead a research project on campus internationalization strategies. In his most recent position in the United States he served as an Academic Advisor and Recruiter for the College of Education at Maryland and he also served as the Coordinator of Research, Assessment, and Data Management for a General Electric-TIME grant within the K-16 Partnership Development Center in the College of Education at Maryland. In addition to these positions, during his first two years at Maryland Ryan served as the Coordinator of the Student Honor Council (academic integrity) in the Office of Judicial Programs and has served as an Instructor in the College of Education, teaching "EDCP 317: Introduction to Leadership" and "UNIV 101: Introduction to the University and Computing".
During the course of his studies at Maryland Ryan served as a Research Associate at the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington, DC, doing research on higher education issues in Latin America. He also worked part-time as a Program Instructor at the United States Institute of Peace. In addition, he has been a diversity education training specialist for over eleven years now, and has done workshops at several colleges in the United States.
Prior to his time at Maryland, Ryan worked as an Instructor and a Student Affairs Administrator for the University of California for four years, at the Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz campuses. He received his B.A. in English Literature/Secondary Education from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ, and he received his M.A. degree in College Student Personnel Administration and his M.Ed. degree in Higher Education Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University. He also holds a Certification in International Conflict Mediation from the University of Maryland. Currently, Ryan is a Ph.D. candidate in International Educational Policy Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park. Ryan is a native of Nanuet, NY and considers NY City his true home.

Michelle Hall is one of two Assistant Directors for Multicultural & International Student Programs. She has been with the Office since October 2002, and serves as a campus expert on all matters related to the United States Citizenship & Immigration Service (USCIS). She currently serves as the Regional Representative for the "Black & Multicultural Professionals in International Education" for Region X of NAFSA: The Association of International Educators. Michelle graduated from Hofstra University with a degree in communications and is currently pursuing her Master's degree in Communication as well. She is the faculty advisor for the Hofstra Gospel Ensemble and works closely with HINT, the organization for international students at Hofstra. She is also very active in national and local Gospel networks as well.
