President Andrea Standrowicz
Andrea Standrowicz is junior publishing studies major with a minor in marketing. She is from Thompson, Connecticut. In her time here at Hofstra, Andrea has held a variety of positions on the Student Government Association, graduated from the Blue Leadership Program, and was even fortunate enough to help organize and volunteer during last year's Presidential Debate. This year Andrea is a member of the Gold Leadership Cohort, and she is also excited to be serving as the Student Government Association's president.
Vice President Ron Singh
Harjyot Singh, or as many know him as, Ron, resides not too far from Hofstra in Valley Stream, New York. A Senior, Ron is majoring in political science and pursuing minors in psychology, journalism, and film. Ron’s Hofstra journey started as a Senator in the Hofstra University Student Government Association, and with the continued support and encouragement of many of his peers in SGA, also served as the President of the Association this past year. Back at Vice President this year, Ron continues to envision SGA as a central and unifying force on the University campus, or as he likes to call it, realizing “Ubuntu” (togetherness). In his spare time, Ron likes to write, play and watch basketball, and enjoy a good movie. One of his favorite sayings he recalls during pressuring times is from FridayNight Lights, “Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can’t Lose.”
Comptroller Yeri Lee
Yeri Lee is a senior international business and IT double major. From South Korea, before coming to Hofstra, Yeri studied in both New Zealand and in Seattle. Outside of being SGA Comptroller, Yeri is Co-President of the Asian Business Association-America, President of the Hofstra Chapter of the Asian Business Association, Vice President of the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, and a Dean’s List student. In SGA, she has been a member of the Constitutional Convention Committee, Academic Affairs Committee, and Programming Committee. In her free time, she enjoys playing the piano, flute, and golf.
Academic Affairs Chair Patrick Tierney
My name is Patrick Tierney, I’m the chair of the Academic Affairs Committee. I’m from just outside of New Haven, Connecticut. I’m a dual Political Science and Philosophy major. This is my senior year at Hofstra, and I’m looking to law school when I graduate. In my free time, I play on the Hofstra Men’s Ultimate Team. I look forward to working with the rest of SGA and hopefully making an impact in my final year here at Hofstra.
Appropriations Chair Megan Andrews
Megan Andrews is a junior finance and accounting double major from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. You can find Megan singing, dancing, and helping incoming students as an Orientation Leader over the summer, working as an RA in Colonial Square, and tutoring business students for UTP. She is also a member of the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) and Beta Gamma Sigma. Before becoming the Appropriations Chair, Megan was the treasurer of HAMA, and sat on the Club Relations committee. In her free time, Megan enjoys playing tennis, shopping, and spending time with her friends and family.
Club Relations Chair Alex Barkley
Alex Barkley is a senior psychology major with a dual minor in music and italian language from Saratoga Springs, New York. In addition to SGA, Alex is the Vice-President of the all male a cappella group, The Dutchmen, as well as the Assessment Chair in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Alex spends most of his free time with his friends, working out, cooking, or developing his skills as DJ.
Programming Chair Chelsea Gillyard
Chelsea Gillyard is a junior marketing major from the Bronx, New York. Her dream job would be the head of the marketing department of a cosmetic or magazine company in the city, but she often considers becoming a professional makeup artist. Student Government Association was the first organization that Chelsea joined at Hofstra and she has enjoyed getting to know other student leaders and working to have a positive influence on the Hofstra Community. Some of Chelsea’s hobbies include playing the piano, traveling, doing makeup for her friends and family, painting her nails, going to the movies and cooking. She loves to meet new people and try new things such as learning how to play the guitar.
Rules Chair Alyssa Legnetti
Alyssa Legnetti is a senior majoring in Speech-Language Hearing Sciences and minoring in Neuroscience. She has been a member of SGA for the last four years, and has served in many different roles. Alyssa has served as a Senator on the Public Relations as well as Appropriations committees. Last year, Alyssa served as Secretary of SGA, and this year she will be serving as the Rules Chair. In addition to being a member of SGA, Alyssa is also one of the co-chairs of Relay for Life at Hofstra University.
Spirit Chair Melanie Perry
Melanie Perry is a senior at Hofstra and she is from the small town of Groton, Massachusetts. She was secretary of SGA her sophomore year and this is her second year as Spirit Chair. She is thrilled to have the chance to continue her initiatives this year in hopes of building a spirited community on campus. She is a forensic science major and loves science, Dexter and crime shows. Outside of SGA Melanie is also an active member of CSI: Hofstra. She spends most of her time studying but when she is not she enjoys hanging out with friends, dancing, reading, playing the piano, quoting Friends, and boating. Melanie’s dream is to work for the FBI and live on the beach. She is so excited to have the opportunity to be in this position again and has great hopes of improving Hofstra’s school spirit.
Student Services Chair Jesse Lender
Jesse Lender is a senior here at Hofstra University, studying Community Health. He is from Rockland County, New York. This is his second year as the Student Services Chair for the Student Government Association. In his past years at Hofstra, he has held the Academic Affairs and Student Services Chair (2012/2013), sat on the board for Hofstra Hillel and the Hillel President position in his sophomore year. In addition to his involvement, he was awarded Sophomore Man of the Year. As long as he is around people, he is a happy person.
