President Harjyot “Ron” Singh
Harjyot Singh, or as many know him as, Ron, resides not too far from Hofstra in Valley Stream, New York. A junior, Ron is majoring in political science and minoring in psychology, journalism, and film. Ron’s Hofstra journey started as a Senator in the Hofstra University Student Government Association, serving on its Public Relations Committee. Ron envisions SGA as a central and unifying force on the University campus, or as he likes to call it, realizing “Ubuntu” (togetherness). In his spare time, Ron likes to write, play and watch basketball, and enjoy a good movie. He looks up to figures such as Bill Cosby, Muhammad Ali. and Will Smith. One of his favorite sayings he recalls during pressuring times is from Friday Night Lights, “Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can’t Lose.”
Vice President Andrea Standrowicz
Andrea Standrowicz is an English major with minors in marketing and political science. She is about to enter her sophomore year at Hofstra, and is looking forward to it tremendously. Having been a Senator for the past academic year, she is excited to be given the chance to Chair the Club Relations committee of SGA. This is her second year in SGA and she has been working diligently with club leaders since the moment she started.
Comptroller Yeri Lee
Yeri Lee is a junior international business and IT double major. From South Korea, before coming to Hofstra, Yeri studied in both New Zealand and in Seattle. Outside of being SGA Comptroller, Yeri is Co-President of the Asian Business Association-America, President of the Hofstra Chapter of the Asian Business Association, Vice President of the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, and a Dean’s List student. In SGA, she has been a member of the Constitutional Convention Committee, Academic Affairs Committee, and Programming Committee. In her free time, she enjoys playing the piano, flute, and golf.
Secretary Alyssa Legnetti
Alyssa Legnetti is a junior studying speech, language and hearing sciences from Jamison, Pennsylvania. Entering her third year of SGA, she is also the Treasurer of the Foundation for the International Medical Relief of Children, is a Tri-Chair of Hofstra's Relay For Life, and is a member of the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society. She loves spending time with her family, going to the beach, and watching movies with her friends!
Appropriations Chair Megan Andrews
Megan Andrews is a sophomore business management major from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. In addition to Student Government, she is the treasurer of the Hofstra American Marketing Association (HAMA). Over the summer, you can find Megan singing, dancing, and helping incoming students as an Orientation Leader. In her free time, Megan enjoys playing tennis, making collages, baking, and travelling.
Programming Chair Chelsea Gillyard
Chelsea Gillyard is a sophomore accounting major from the Bronx, New York. Her dream job would be the head of the accounting department of a cosmetic or magazine company in the city, but often considers becoming a professional makeup artist. Student Government Association was the first organization that Chelsea joined at Hofstra and she has enjoyed getting to know other student leaders and working to have a positive influence on the Hofstra Community. Some of Chelsea’s hobbies include playing the piano, traveling, doing makeup for her friends and family, painting her nails, going to the movies and cooking. She loves to meet new people and try new things such as learning how to play the guitar.
Public Relations Chair William “Billy” Finnegan
William Finnegan, or as he is popularly known, Billy Finnegan, is a junior creative writing major with a double minor in management and public relations. He is from Long Island, something of which he is very proud. In addition to being SGA PR Chair for a second year, Billy is a member of the University Senate Student Affairs Committee, an RA in Stuyvesant Hall, an RSR, and a member of the Student Affairs Committee on the Presidential Debate. He is an aspiring novelist, patron of the arts, and socialite. Billy is an avid writer, a lover of all things Barbra Streisand and Madonna, an obsessive Harry Potter (and Jo Rowling) fan, and is slowly becoming emotionally involved with Twitter. He aspires to be like Evita and Alexis fromDynasty, and in his spare time, he can usually be found writing, watching old episodes of The Nanny, or shopping.
Rules Chair – Alyssa O’Brien
Alyssa O’Brien is a first year student from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She intends to obtain a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations and is grateful for the opportunity to serve in SGA as the Rules Chair. Alyssa became involved in SGA as a result of the fall 2012 elections. In high school, she participated in pre-professional dance programs at Point Park University and Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, and shared her knowledge of dance through involvement in Urban Impact Foundation where she taught elementary aged students basic ballet technique. In her spare time Alyssa enjoys engaging in dance dares, meeting strangers, and attempting to sing.
Spirit Chair Melanie Perry
Melanie Perry is a junior at Hofstra and she is from the small town of Groton, Massachusetts. She was secretary of SGA her sophomore year and is thrilled to have an active role within SGA again this year. She is a forensic science major and criminology minor and loves science and crime shows. Outside of SGA Melanie is also an active member of CSI: Hofstra. She spends most of her time studying but when she is not she enjoys hanging out with friends, dancing, reading, playing the piano, quoting Friends, and boating. Melanie’s dream is to work for the FBI and live on the beach. She is so excited to be in this position and has great hopes of improving Hofstra’s school spirit.
Club Relations Chair: Cameron Freitag
Cameron is an enthusiastic first year, pursuing a degree in Management through the Zarb School of Business, with a minor in Political Science. He is originally from Los Angeles, California, but he loves his time here in New York. In high school, he was a member of Student Government at University Preparatory School. During his sophomore year of high school, Cam was an International Youth Ambassador to Brazil. He is now very excited to take on his new job as Chairman of the Club Relations Committee, and looks forward to a productive year working closely with all the wonderful clubs we have at our great university.
