SGA COMMITTEES

The Student Government Association (SGA) has six standing committees in which student senators serve. These committees meet weekly to address the concerns facing the student body and Hofstra community as a whole.

Academic Affairs: The Academic Affairs Committee reviews and seeks solutions about academic and cultural issues at Hofstra University, consulting with University offices and agencies as appropriate. In addition, the Academic Affairs Committee maintains both teacher evaluations and the test file, as well as conducts building evaluations yearly. During the past few years, the Academic Affairs Committee has organized midterm study breaks for students and has worked with the Axinn Library to establish a textbook library. If you have any academic or cultural concerns, please e-mail the Academic Affairs Committee by clicking here or stop by one of their meetings, which will be held on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. in Student Center Room 207 during the fall 2006 semester.

Appropriations: Near the end of the spring semester, the Appropriations Committee collects budget proposals from clubs and, after reviewing them, reports an annual budget of the SGA to the Senate. The Appropriations Committee also reviews clubs' requests for additional allocations throughout the academic year. During the fall 2006 semester, the Appropriations Committee will be meeting on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. in Student Center room 207. If your club would like to present a budget proposal to the Appropriations Committee, please stop by the SGA office (room 207 of the Student Center) on Mondays after 12 p.m. to sign up.
