How to Join SGA

To be eligible to become a Senator of the Student Government Association you must complete the following:

  • Collect signatures from 1% of the student population (90 full-time undergraduate students)
  • Attend a total of three (3) committee meetings
    • One (1) meeting must be the Rules Committee
    • Two (2) meetings may be any other committee meetings (Academic Affairs, Appropriations, Club Affairs, Fundraising, Rules, Spirit, Student Services)
      • The two meetings can be the same committee
  • Attend two (2) full Senate meetings

Upon completion of these requirements, delegates will come up for election before the full Senate of the Student Government Association. This packet must be returned to the Vice President prior to the Senate meeting for election to become Senator.

Once the signatures are given in to the Vice President, you will officially be considered a Delegate. The position of Delegate allows you to vote and participate in committees. Office hours are optional for delegates.

To begin collecting signatures, either download the Delegate Packet or pick up a copy of the delegate packet from the Student Government Office. If you have any questions, please contact the Vice President or you can call (516) 463-6960 or stop by the SGA Office (Student Center Room 207).
