Jail Bail Fundraiser

Jail & Bail Fundraiser for the Special Olympics

Friday, March 30, 2012
10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Hofstra’s Jail & Bail allows students the opportunity to “arrest” their fellow peers (i.e. roommate, best friend, classmate, etc.) in an effort to raise money for the Special Olympics. Participants are able to buy warrants for the arrest of an individual of their choice. Those individuals are then “arrested” and taken to a jail cell which is setup in the Student Center Atrium the day of the event. While in the cell, the students must raise money to pay their bail which is set by a panel of judges (Hofstra staff). Students are able to raise money by asking friends, family, and even other students as they pass by. Individuals may also buy an immunity card prior to the event. It is important to note that this event is meant for fun and no student is forced to participate if they don’t want to.

Buy Warrants and/or Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free Cards: March 15 – 28, Student Center Atrium

All proceeds go to the Special Olympics of Long Island, an unprecedented global movement which, through quality sports training and competition, improves the lives of people with intellectual and physical disabilities and, in turn, the lives of everyone they touch.
