How do I open a document in Word?

  • Click File > Open or click on the yellow folder icon located on the toolbar in Word. In the Open window, it will be necessary to search for the location of the document.
  • Once the document is found, click it once to so that it highlights, then click Open.

 

How do I add toolbars?

  • Click View > Toolbars, and a menu will appear with various toolbars that can be added.
  • Click on the toolbar you want to add and the toolbar will appear in the Word window.

 

How do I save/rename an existing document with a new name?

  • Click File > Save As.
  • Choose a desired drive/folder, then rename the file in the File Name field.
  • Click Save.

 

How do I set margins?

  • Click File > Page Setup.
  • Under Margins, select the options you want.

 

How do I restore a missing toolbar?

  • Click View > Toolbars and a submenu will appear.
  • Select toolbars that are missing.

 

How do I perform a spell check?

  • Click Tools > Spelling and Grammar...
  • When Word finds a possible spelling or grammatical problem, make your changes in the Spelling and Grammar dialog box.

 

How do I use Headers and Footers?


1. Click View > Header and Footer to open the header or footer area on a page.


2. To create a header, enter text or graphics in the header area.


3. To create a footer, click Switch Between Header and Footer on the Header and Footer toolbar to move to the footer area, and then enter text or graphics.


4. If necessary, format text by using buttons on the Formatting toolbar.


5. When you finish, click Close on the Header and Footer toolbar.

 

How do I insert footnotes or an endnote?


1. Click Insert > Reference, and then click Footnote.

2. Click Footnotes or Endnotes.

3. Select whether to create your own custom mark or use a symbol for a custom mark. Do one of the following:


  • In the Custom mark box, enter a mark.
  • Click Symbol to insert a built-in symbol.

4. Click Insert.

 

How do I access the drawing toolbar?

  • Click View > Toolbars and then click Drawing.

 

How do I create a table in Word?

  • Click Table > Insert and then click Table .
  • Specify the number of rows and columns that are needed.
  • Click OK.
