How to disable common pop-up blocker

Having trouble navigating through the MyHofstra Portal?
The following insightful information may help you determine why you are having this problem:

Symptom: Pop-up blockers including Google Toolbar, Yahoo Companion Toolbar, or MSN Toolbar may prevent you from accessing certain pages on the Hofstra Portal.

Reason: The Portal opens new windows for some services such as Blackboard. These new windows may not open correctly with pop-up blockers enabled.

Fix: If you are having trouble navigating through the MyHofstra Portal Web pages and believe that your pop-up blocker is the cause, please see below for directions explaining how to disable some common pop-up blockers.

Tips for disabling common pop-up blockers: Google, Yahoo, MSN

Click here to download the Google Toolbar

You may disable the pop-up blocking feature on a per-session basis by holding the CTRL key as you click on a link to navigate to a new page.

To disable the pop-up blocking feature on a Web site permanently, click the Pop-Ups blocked button on the Google Toolbar. You will notice the words on the button change from Pop-Ups blocked to Site Pop-Ups allowed. This will enable pop-ups for that Web site.

In the Pop-Up Blocker menu, you can select Enable Pop-Up Blocker to check or uncheck the menu item to either disable or enable the Pop-Up Blocker.

A check symbol next to Enable Pop-Up Blocker Yahoo button indicates that the Pop-Up Blocker is active. No check indicates that it is disabled, which means that pop-ups will be allowed.
