Password Protecting Your Screen Saver
You can protect the security of your workstation by locking your
computer when you step away from your desk. It's easy to do, just follow
the directions below.
Select your Operating System for
instructions:
Windows XP
Mac OSX 10.2
Mac OSX 10.3
Windows XP
1. Right-click on your desktop and left-click on Properties.
2. Select the Screen Saver
tab.
3. Click the checkbox for On resume,
password protect.
4. Click OK to close the
window.
5. After the period of inactivity set for
the screen saver (usually 10 minutes), the screen saver will activate.
When a key is pressed, or if you move the mouse, you will be prompted to
enter your password to continue working.
Macintosh
OS X 10.2
1. Go to the Apple menu and select System
Preferences.
2. Click the Screen Effects
icon.

3. Click the Activation tab and select the Use
my user account password option.

4. Close the System Preferences.
5. After the period of inactivity set for
the screen saver (usually 10 minutes), the screen saver will activate.
When a key is pressed, or if you move the mouse, you will be prompted to
enter your password to continue working.
Macintosh
OS X 10.3
1. Go to the Apple menu and select System
Preferences.
2. Click the Security
icon.

3. Click the checkbox for Require password to wake this computer
from sleep or screen saver.

4. Close the System Preferences.
5. After the period of inactivity set for
the screen saver (usually 10 minutes), the screen saver will activate.
When a key is pressed, or if you move the mouse, you will be prompted to
enter your password to continue working.
