Carol
St. Angelo (Adjunct Assistant Professor
of Biology) reveals how she uses Blackboard's discussion
board feature in her graduate course. She also explains
the benefits of tracking student use of the sections
of her course site. Joan Furey (Assistant
Professor of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences)
discusses how her students analyze speech and learning
impairment in child subjects through videos available
through her Blackboard course. She then tells how she
uses Blackboard for a graduate course in which students
transcribe audio clips of children with speech sound
disorders. Mustapha Masrour (Director
of the Language Learning Center) details his use
of the discussion board for courses in the Teacher Education
Program. He explains how his strives to encourage students
to share well-thought ideas during class discussions.
Later, he shows how he used images from a textbook on
illegal immigration to inspire discussion threads and
teach students how to engage considerately in a controversial
debate.
