1. Launch Mozilla Thunderbird.
2. Click Tools from the “Menu Bar”.
3. Select “Account Settings” form the “Tools” menu. |

| 4. From the “Account Settings” dialog box, click on the Add Account… button located in the lower left. |

| 5. Select the Email account radio button option.
**DO NOT CHOOSE THE GMAIL OPTION!** |

6. In the “Your Name” text field, enter your name as you would like it to appear in your e-mails.
7. In the “Email Address” text field, enter your full Hofstra e-mail address Example: JSMITH1@pride.hofstra.edu.
8. Click Next. |

9.Choose the POP option.
10 . Enter the following information:
- Incoming Server: pop.gmail.com
- Outgoing Server: smtp.gmail.com
11. Click Next. |

12. Enter your Hofstra e-mail address (Example: JSMITH1@pride.hofstra.edu) for the Incoming User Name and the Outgoing User Name.
13. Click Next. |

| 14. Enter a descriptive Account Name, for example, Hofstra GMail. |
| |
| |
|
15. Verify that all the information is correct.
16. Click on Finish. |

 |
| 17. Next, click on the Server Settings option. |
| |
| |
 |
| 18. Under “Security Settings”, select the SSL radio button below the “Use secure connection” heading. |

| |
 |
19. Click on the “Outgoing Server” option on the left.
20. Click the Edit button on the right. |

| |
 |
21. Select the SSL radio button under “Security and Authentication”
22. Verify that the “User name and password” check box is checked.
23. Verify that your full Hofstra e-mail address appears as the “User Name”.
24. Click on OK. |
